Increase in Small Claims Limit

Monday 15th April 2013

The Government plans to increase the Small Claims Court limit to £15,000. The Small Claims court was meant to be for low value claims which did not merit a lawyer’s involvement, so it is not possible to recover legal costs from the losing party. Claimants are expected to represent themselves. Only a member of the Bullingdon Club would consider £15,000 a small amount of money.
